SIA Engineering Company Site Visit

Description

Multiple company officers provided an introduction to SIAEC’s Operations Divisions and an overview of SIAEC’s portfolio of Joint Venture Companies, Heavy Maintenance and Fleet Management businesses, and the factors that affect financial performance.  A lunch at the Silver Kris Restaurant allowed further discussion of SIAEC operations through informal conversation and Q&A.

Speakers

1. Gamal Angullia

Gamal Angullia is the Vice President of Partnership Management at SIAEC.  He joined Singapore Airlines in 1991 and served in various departments within the SIA Group Internal Audit Division. In 2003, as part of job rotation, Mr. Angullia joined Singapore Airport Terminal Services (SATS) and was part of Singapore Airport Terminal 2 management team. In 2004, he transferred to SIA Engineering Company Partnership Management Division, responsible for oversight of the Company’s portfolio of joint venture companies. In 2008, he was transferred to SIA Engineering Company, Base Maintenance division, assisting in support services of hangar operations.  Mr. Angullia was appointed Vice President Workshops in April 2009, where he served until his move back to Partnership Management Division in April 2013.  Prior to joining the SIA Group, he worked for 3 years at Ernst & Young. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountant of Singapore. Mr. Angullia holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the National University of Singapore. 

2. Tan Chu Hiang

Tan Chu Hiang is the Vice President of Heavy Maintenance (Support Services) at SIAEC.  He joined SIA Engineering Company in 1989 where he became a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. Mr. Tan served in various capacities in Line Maintenance, Marketing & Sales, Finance, Planning, Human Resources, Materials and Fleet Management Divisions.  He was also the Staff Assistant in the Chief Executive Officer’s office between 2000 and 2001.  Mr. Tan was appointed Vice President Materials in 2006, Vice President Fleet Management in 2007, and Vice President Base Maintenance in 2010.  He is currently Vice President Heavy Maintenance, responsible for Support Services. Mr. Tan holds a First Class Honours degree in Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago.

3. Rick Chan

Rick Chan is the Senior Manager of Fleet Management (Commercial & Analysis) at SIAEC.  He joined Singapore Airlines in 2002 as Assistant Manager Internal Audit before he transferred to SIA Engineering Company as Assistant Manager Business Development in 2004. He moved on to Materials Division in 2006 and was appointed Manager Materials (Support Services) in 2007 and Senior Manager Fleet Management (Support Services & Admin) in 2010.  He is currently Senior Manager Fleet Management (Commercial & Analysis). Prior to joining SIA Engineering Company, Mr. Chan was the Financial Controller of Trisecurity, a Corporate Finance Manager in Deloitte & Touche and an Audit Supervisor in Arthur Andersen. Mr. Chan holds a First Class Honours degree in Economics from La Trobe University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Warwick.
